Hesham El Gamal, a world-renowned scientist in the field of information theory, and the recipient of the 2013 Innovator of the Year Award from the Ohio State University. He is currently a Full Professor at the Ohio State University and CEO of inmobly. He is a recognized leader in wireless communications; as witnessed by his heavily cited papers, the prestigious awards he collected, and the adoption of his work in the industrial Telecommunications standards. His research has been consistently funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF), the Los Alamos National Labs (LANL), the USAID, the Egyptian National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), Texas Instruments (TI), Nokia Labs, and General Motors (GM). He has an extensive industrial experience at Alcatel-Lucent, Hughes Networks System, and Interdigital. He holds 12 U.S. patents and has one pending patent application. He served as the Founding Director for the Wireless Intelligent Networks Center (WINC) at Nile University and is one of the pioneering researchers in the area of information theoretic security. He was recently promoted to the prestigious grade of an IEEE Fellow; in recognition for his fundamental contributions to the MIMO and cooperative communications.
